  1. Jiu jitsu is more about standing wrist locks, and benefits more from having speed and power, however technique is still of importance , it includes alot of the same ground fighting techniques that are used in Brazilian jiu jitsu ,since its a offspring of jiu jitsu, which also includes punching, kicking, kneeing, throws and is more of an overall fighting style, bjj has more focus on ground fighting, but it also includes throws and take downs,  this is a very simple explanation   i dont know all the details just the general idea

  2. First of all, Brazilian Jujitsu did not come from Japanese Jujitsu. It came from Kodokan Judo. Brazilian Jujitsu is becoming more and more of a sport than a martial art as opposed to Japanese Jujitsu which is a little more harsh with its eye gouges and minor joint locks. Brazilian Jujitsu does mostly ground fighting while Japanese Jujitsu has stand-up grappling and ground fighting. BJJ may be good in the ring, but Japanese Jujitsu would probably be more practical for actual fights.

  3. The difference is Notta!! other than a bunch of Brazilians trying to claim that they invented "jujitsu" basically ... that pisses me off.  I have one name for BJJ folks!! Masahiko Kimura!!!

  4. BRAZILLIAN jiu JITZU IS MORE IN DEPTH AND TAKES MORE TRAINING!

  5. jiu jitsu is japanese and brazilian jiu jitsu is brazilian

  6. brazilian... DUH

  7. brazilian jujutsu focuses on ne-waza or groundfighting. classical japanese jujutsu is a battlefield samurai art. some groundwork, joint locks, strikes to an extent (but not emphasized alot) throws.

modern jujutsu is a self defense art. but is more like japanese jujutsu. but taught more freely.

  8. ummm it depends there are like hundereds of jiu jitsu styles some of them striking oriented slightly but most are very similar to bjj it is harder to learn because the motions take longer to get due to old school training methods a flaw withclassical jj was that sparing/wrestling was too dangerous but most japanese jiujitsu not combine with judo or somthing so that flaw has been fixed there are not too many differences but that depends on the jiu jitsu a good hundered or so are still around so yeah

  9. all around there isn't that big of a difference. BJJ is more of "Tournament" style. It has more ground work. Traditional Japanese is a little more brutal and has more stand up and not as much ground.
