Jiyai Shin confident after two back-to-back wins
South Korean Jiyai Shin is able to rattle rivals at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012, as she appears to be in her best form after clinching two back-to-back victories in September this year.
Shin may not rank among the hot favourite stars as much of the attention is being centred on players like Na Yeon Choi who is the defending champion of Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, current world
number one Yani Tseng and American Stacy Lewis.
However, the South Korean star boasts a profile that makes her stand out among competent contenders in the roster, and this is why Malaysian fans are eagerly waiting for her to tee off.
Speaking to the media during her pre-tournament interview on Wednesday, Shin said that she is in high spirits these days, but was keen to point out that her renewed confidence was because
of a victory at the Ricoh Women’s British Open 2012 — a major tournament that is known for featuring top-ranked American and European players.
Her performance at the British Open 2012 was amazing as the LPGA titan shot an overall 279 to grab an eye-popping nine-stroke victory against fellow South Korean Inbee Park.
There is not just the British Open triumph that has kept Shin’s momentum going, but a first-place finish at the Kingsmill Championship is also motivating the 24-year-old professional to put
her best foot forward in the coming tournaments and the next season.
Despite performing well in most of the recent tournaments, a hand injury has kept Shin in a tight spot throughout the 2012 season. However, the star golfer has come across as being agile in
every tournament she has participated in.
“After British win, it changed a lot, actually. I went back to Korea, so many people, they have a warm welcome. Last 12 months I had a lot of injury. Last year my back wasn't good, and
this year my hand wasn't good,” stated Shin who is said to have undergone surgery to fix her injuries.
“After that surgery when I played, I was really happy to play because I was so miss about playing, I'm missing and hungry about the competition with Yani and all the players”.
