Jiyai Shin leads the way with round one still in progress
The Handa Ladies Australian Open is currently being led by Jiyai Shin, who is a world number one on the world golf rankings.
The Handa Ladies Australian Open teed off today at the Commonwealth Golf Club and has Shin leading the versatile contention with a difference of one shot. The Korean golfer managed to perform brilliantly at the first round of the tournament and wowed many
aficionados that have been eager to see her play.
Melbourne, thus witnessed the 22-year-old female golfer display a stark collection of 6 monolithic birdies that trimmed her notable score card.
For Shin, the round went bogey free. Also known as the Final Round Queen, Shin managed to finish her first round play with a total of a blemish free 67. She stood as a valiant outright leader after the first half of the round and gathered a six under for
the day.
According to her score card, Shin’s trek for 67 increased its pace when she reached the 5th hole of the Commonwealth Golf Club. The golfer with 34 professional victories managed to collect two back to back birdies from hole number 8 and 9 after
the par 4 birdie and concluded her front nine with a 33.
After an imposing display of strokes at the front nine, Shin carded three magnanimous back to back birdies from hole number 12, 13 and 14 after combating pars of 4, 5 and 4.
Threatening to subdue Shin’s pace, Melissa Reid from England joins the 22-year-old on the leading T1 place and is currently through 12 rounds of the GC.
Amazingly, Ried has carded a total of 6 birdies with 7 holes still to play. The English golfer glittered at the 2nd hole of the tournament where she collected her first birdie. Blemish free till now, the 23-year-old has been able to collect 4
back to back birdies from hole number 4, 5, 6, and 7 and concluded her front nine with a 31.
As for the back nine, it began with a pleasing birdie at the 10th hole.
To round up the top three places on the leader board, Rebecca Coakley, has managed to end her day with a 68. She has also played a bogey free round and adorned her score card with a total of 5 decent birdies.
