Jiyai Shin ready to repeat 2010 performance at Evian Masters 2012
South Korean Jiyai Shin, who won the 2010 Evian Masters by one stroke, is ready to take on rivals at this year’s edition of the tournament, schedule to be held from July 26-29, at Evian-les-Bains, France.
Shin clinched the 2010 edition of the Evian Masters in an impressive style, as she battled prominent LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) contenders on the course. Now that the field for the current edition has been set and all the players are ready
to prove their worth, the South Korean star is gearing up to put her skills to the test.
Analyst said that the Evian Masters 2012 is sure to stage a nerve-jangling battle among big names, as the roster is going to feature nine of the top-10 players in the Women’s World Golf Rankings.
Key contenders confirmed in the roster include current world number one Yani Tseng, Paula Creamer, Stacy Lewis, Suzann Pettersen, Laura Davies, Cristie Kerr, Na Yeon Choi, Maria Hjorth, Lexi Thompson, Azahara Munoz, Caroline Hedwall, Anna Nordqvist, Karen
Stupples, Melissa Reid and Sandra Gal of Germany.
Analysts said that Shin might not have recorded any victory on the LPGA Tour since her last triumph at the Mizuno Classic in November 2010, but the LPGA titan appears to be in a good form and she is desperate to prove her mettle once again.
The victory in the 2010 Evian Masters has definitely boosted Shin’s morale, as it helped the South Korean prodigy fix some of the fatal flaws in her game.
She participated in the 2011 edition of the tournament too, but could not prove her worth as other contenders displayed a far better game. Speaking to the media at the 2011 edition about how she felt after clinching a title at the Evian Masters 2010, Shin
said that she was extremely happy after beating players like Na Yeon Choi, Lexi Thompson and Morgan Pressel.
“I am really happy to come back here because this is my favourite place. So I'm all the time happy to play here. Actually very sunny, nice dry place here, but I'm very surprise when I came to here it's so cold and rainy,” she had said at the start of the
2011 Evian Masters.
