Jiyai Shin sets sights on CME Group Titleholders
South Korean Jiyai Shin has set her sights on the CME Group Titleholders 2012, slated to be played from November 15-18, at The TwinEagles Club, Naples, Florida.
The CME Group Titleholders, a four-day tournament co-sanctioned by LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour, was first launched in the 2011 season.
Shin could become one of star performers at the upcoming battle, but the roster is going to feature almost all the big names, making the competition tougher than the previous year.
The South Korean star appears calm and collected as she is happy with her performance in the 2012 season. She participated in tournaments with an aim to win.
She recorded a total of 8 top-10 finishes in the season—something that has helped her eclipse the fame of most of the big names on the Tour.
But what has put Shin in the limelight in the current season is her two back-to-back victories in September.
She took part in the Kingsmill Championship with plenty of confidence and displayed a solid performance in all the four rounds. The LPGA titan beat American Paula Creamer in playoff.
She then headed to the United Kingdom to participate in the Ricoh Women’s British Open 2012, where she crushed South Korean Inbee Park by nine strokes.
Observers said that Shin can rattle rivals in Florida this week, as she is in high spirits these days. They said that the two straight victories are not the only factor keeping her motivated, but she has also improved her long and short game in the recent past.
Other contenders who may give Shin a tough time include American Stacy Lewis, current world number one Yani Tseng and Inbee Park whom she beat in the UK in September.
Park has been performing well in the current season, as she is also chasing Stacy Lewis in the Rolex Player of the Year award.
Park spoke to the media on Tuesday and shared her experience in women’s golf. “Playing golf maybe six times a week is not that tough physically because golf is not like, you know, it takes too much energy. I think it's more mental that takes more of your energy in the game of golf, I think”.
