Jlloyd Samuel frustrated at Bolton Wanderers; James Milner optimistic about Manchester City's future
Jlloyd Samuel has been frustrated by the lack of chances in the first team at Bolton, and has said that he would be looking to move out of England and give his career a new lease of life. Samuel has not been able to get much playing
time ever since the new manager Owen Coyle took charge. During the summer, there was strong interest from Newcastle United and Samuel had also showed a willingness to move but Coyle insisted that Samuel was part of his plans for the new season. However, things
have not panned out that way and instead Jlloyd Samuel has been warming the bench till now. To make matters worse, he has now been sidelined for at least 3 months following an injury to his thigh muscle. The current contract for Samuel runs out at the end
of the current season, and till now he has not been given any assurances about an extension.
The former Aston Villa man said that the first thing on his mind at the moment was to get fit again, and secondly he would want to make sure that he can get himself in the first team. He added that if it was not possible at Bolton,
he would consider moving to Spain or Italy.
"I just want to get fit and playing really," said Samuel in the Daily Mail.
"I'm hoping to be back by January and then I will definitely look at my contract situation.
"It might be the case that I have to go elsewhere."
While in Manchester, another former Aston Villa player, James Milner, has shown his optimism about his team’s performance in the league. Milner said that it is great to be in the 2nd place at this stage of the season,
but there is a lot more to do and the team would only get better from here on in. Milner, who was one of the players brought in this summer, said that the team has been playing really well, but as the players get to know each other more, it would get even
better and the results on the pitch would speak for themselves. James Milner was part of a list of stars that made their way to the Eastlands in the summers: David Silva, the World Cup winning midfielder from Valencia, Yaya Toure from Barcelona, Jerome Boateng,
and of course, the injured Mario Balotelli from Inter Milan.
The Abu Dhabi based owner Sheikh Mansour spent 130 million in the summer transfer window and made it clear that he wants to bring silverware to the City of Manchester. Wayne Rooney was rumoured to be the next man on the shopping
list for the oil rich Arab owners, but Rooney has just confirmed a 5-year extension at Manchester United, crushing all hopes to bring the player to the Blues.
Manchester City are currently placed 2nd in the Premier League and trail league leaders Chelsea by just 2 points. However, James Milner is not satisfied with the overall performance of the team, and stated that their
form on the pitch can get much better.
The right-winger went on to say that there is certainly a lot more that his team can offer. Milner pointed out Carlos Tevez and said that he was not at his prime in the first season, but look at him now, with manager Mancini giving
him the captaincy; he is simply blossoming. The England international went on to say that some of the best players from Europe have joined City, and there is no doubt in his mind that they would be able to match their city rivals Manchester United step by
step and in due time go beyond them.
