Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to utilize his winnings on robbed house – Tennis Special
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, French world No.6, has had a season of his life. Making his way through the best players and to the final rounds of several tournaments, the 26-year-old has made his mark jumping from out of the top ten and into the top six players in the world.
With his winnings and final runs, the Frenchman bagged nearly three million dollars this season bagging two titles and a 55-24 win loss record. With a rather slow start to his season, Tsonga gained his form back in London, as he went till the final round of the AEGON championship.
The 26-year-old came into the lime light when he defeated the Tennis Professor, Roger Federer, as the two collided in the quarter-final match of Wimbledon, ousting his rival in a hard hitting five set match. Tsonga became a Fed-killer as he out played Federer in the quarter-final of Rogers Cup, Montreal, however, lost to Djokovic.
Finally, the Frenchman won his maiden title of the season at home, Metz Cup, however, did not have a strong opposition all the way to the final. However, considered one of the best matches of his season, Tsonga outlasted the Argentine Master, Juan Martin Del Potro in the final of Erste Bank Open, Vienna, winning his second title of the season.
Frenchman considers his final run in the ATP World Tour Finals as his greatest achievement of the season. Bagging $740,000 did put the Frenchman in a little comfort, however, that would now be used at home as the Frenchman got robbed during his tour to London.
Turning out to be a double whammy of a Sunday for the Frenchman, Tsonga’s Swiss home in Gingins was burglarized on Sunday afternoon while he was dreaming for a win against the Swiss Express. His neighbour took notice of the absence of the French star while the lights of his home were on. Police took the matter into their hands as Tsonga hopes to recognize his house when he returns back.
Nevertheless, the French man has made himself a lot of money lately. Surely he wouldn’t have spent all of the three million dollars he earned this year, particularly in the last six months of the season and the prize money would certainly ease of the pain of the robbery, however, if the Frenchman has stored some valuables, like all his money there, then he might just have to sell the place to recover financially.
