Joachim B Hansen remains in contention at the ALLIANZ Golf Open Toulouse Metropole
Joachim B Hansen carded a one-under par 70 in the second round of the European Challenge Tour’s ALLIANZ Golf Open Toulouse Metropole, and tied for the second place, on Friday, September 21, 2012.
After posting a sparkling 63 in the opening round, Hansen started off his second round campaign with a two-stroke lead over five of his competitors in the field.
However, he failed to keep the momentum going and faltered in the early stages on day two, as he lost two early shots on the second and the third hole.
He then managed to offset them by recording two birdies in a row, on the fifth and the sixth hole.
Thereafter, he parred each of the next eight holes, prior to ending the round with two birdies against a lone bogey, on the last four holes.
At the end of the round, the Dane seemed pleased with his performance. He said that the course conditions were really difficult. Yet he managed to post an under-par score in the end.
“It was very tough out there in the wind today, especially when it was blowing from right to left because it was very difficult to control your draw,” he said. “I got off to a very bad start, but made two very good birdies on five and six to get back to
level par for the day”.
According to him, the key to post a good score was to keep the ball straight on the fairways and hit the greens in regulations.
Despite getting off to a poor start, he played brilliantly throughout the round and remained in contention for the top spot, entering the weekend.
“The key was just to stay patient and try to hit as many fairways and greens as possible, and for the most part I managed to do that. So I’m very happy, because the round could’ve got away from me today,” he said.
The 22-year-old has not won a single tournament, since he turned professional in 2010. Therefore, he now has a great chance to join the league of professional winners by giving a strong performance on the weekend.
