Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen clinch Mixed Doubles title at the Denmark Open
Denmark’s Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen cheered the home fans as they have clinched the Mixed Doubles title after beating China’s Xu Chen and Ma Jin in the final of the 2011 Denmark Open Premier Super Series, in Denmark, on Sunday, October
23.
The World Number Four, Nielsen and Pedersen played wonderful badminton against the World Number Two Chen and Jin and won the match in straight games by consuming 53 minutes in the court. The Chinese couple failed to make their mark over the Danish duo and
failed to win even a single set in the final contest.
Nielsen and Pedersen displayed a fabulous show of wonderful game in front of their home crowd and won the first set with a tight margin. However, they controlled the game in the second set of the match and won it without facing strong resistance from their
Chinese rivals.
The opening set started in an attacking way from both sides as they played fast badminton to set up an early lead. However, both sides failed to manage a comfortable gap as they were not missing any chance to take points.
Both couples remained close by playing at the same level until the break where the Danish shuttlers were just ahead of their opponents.
After the break, the fight remained close again as both sides maintained the same speed. A wonderful exchange of long and fast rallies grabbed the interest of the local crowd that turned around to support the local shuttlers.
Nielsen and Pedersen played positive game in the end and managed to win the first set with a close margin of 22-20.
In the second game, the Chinese couple failed to play positive game as they became a little slow at the net, which provided a chance to their Danish opponents to dominate the pace of the game. Nielsen and Pedersen remained successful in taking a good lead
in the opening half.
After the interval, Nielsen and Pedersen continued their aggressive and positive run in the final match and remained successful in winning the second set with a striking margin of 21-16. The final match ended in 53 minutes with a margin of 22-20 and 21-16.
