Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen grab Mixed Doubles title at French Open Super Series
Denmark’s ace couple of Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen have grabbed Mixed Doubles title after beating China’s Xu Chen and Ma Jin in the final of the 2011 French Open Super Series, on Sunday, October 30, in Paris.
Nielsen and Pedersen, who are currently World Number Three, have won the second back-to-back title in two weeks. They clinched the 2011 Denmark Open Premier Super Series last week and have lifted the French Open title this week.
The Danish duo presented a superb show of phenomenal performance in the title-match against the higher ranked Chen and Jin, who are placed at number two in the Mixed Doubles world standings. Nielsen and Pedersen took 43 minutes to chuck out the Chinese opponents
in a straight-set fight.
The fourth seeded Danish couple played superb badminton in the opening set of the match and took it with a good margin. In the second game, the Chinese couple completely failed to play well against the in-form Danish rivals and lost the game without making
any impact.
Both sides opened the first set of the match in an attacking style as they employed powerful smashes and net killings. The momentum of the match was quite fast as both sides kept the pace of the rallies at the highest level. However, at the end of the opening
half, the Danish duo was going slightly ahead of their opponents.
After the break, Nielsen and Pedersen played with precision by controlling the pace of the rallies at the net and remained successful in stretching their lead. The Chinese duo had no answer to the perfect execution of strokes of their rivals. The Danish
duo took the first game with a 21-17 score.
In the second set of the match, Nielsen and Pedersen established their control over the pace of the rallies from the opening points. They spared no chance for the Chinese shuttlers to resist in the game. Their positive and attacking style helped them in
winning the second game with a 21-14 score.
Nielsen and Pedersen won the title match in 43 minutes with a 21-17 and 21-14 score on the board.
