The German national team manager expects the midfielder to be fit in time for next month’s European championship.

He insisted that the midfielder’s return date is not set but is confident that Schweinsteiger will be ready for the competition.

“I do not know [if he will play] yet. He has a hematoma in the calf and this makes things difficult for him. Therefore,
we must minimise the risk,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The tactician stated that the Bayern Munich man has a calf injury which will need some time to heal which is why
he will be rested for the second international friendly. He added that the midfielder is training hard and will be fully fit when the competition starts next month.
Germany have great depth in the midfield area in their squad. The likes of Lars Bender, Ilkay Gundogan and Toni
Kroos can come in as valuable replacements for the experienced Bayern Munich man.
“He is not always training with the team, as you have to see how far he can go and how well he can
deal with the pain. But he will have the necessary physical strength and power for the tournament,” he concluded.
