The 52-year old is most likely to quit the Germany fold after the 2014 World cup.
The former Fenerbahce manager was brought to the German camp by Jurgen Klinsmann. He joined Die Mannschaft as an Assistant manager. They replaced Die Nationalelf’s defensive style of football with their new attack
minded philosophy.
Following Klinsmann’s departure, Low was appointed the head coach by DFB. The tactician’s dedication to his attacking philosophy has been praised by many experts. Although the 52-year old has not won any major honours with Germany
but in recent years his side have performed really well when it comes to tournaments.
He took Die Mannschaft to the semi finals and the final of the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2008 respectively. Joachim Low’s side are labelled as the favourites to clinch this year’s European Champions title.
A week ago the DFB stated that they will not sack their head coach if his side fails to perform at the 2012 European Championship. Now the German tactician has dropped a hint that he is most likely to leave his post in search of
a new challenge, as in his opinion, change is vital in football.
"There comes a time when both sides, or myself, feels there needs to be a change made. Sometimes change is necessary,” he is quoted as saying in an interview.
Low believes that in order to make progress, a team has to go through transition. A change in tactics, training regimes, etc is needed. When you have been in a role for far too long you run out of ideas and motivation.
"Eventually there will come a time where new ideas are needed, where I say now I've done everything and a new challenge and new motivation is needed,” he added.
Low states he is not sure when he will be leaving his post but he reckons it will be sometime after the 2014 World Cup, when he can reflect on his achievements with Die Nationalelf.
"I don't know when that time is but I am sure I will be able to recognize it. But when I do I want to be able to reflect on a good career. And I can now. After the Euros the next goal will be Brazil in 2014,” he further added.
Germany have been impressive in the Euro 2012 so far, beating the likes of Portugal and bitter rivals Netherlands. DFB eleven are more likely to win a trophy than they have ever been, as the tactics have been pretty flexible, and
they have been able to grind out results when the need arises.
