Germany head coach, Joachim Low, defends his team selection for the semi-final with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926.
Joachim Low is known to make minor changes to his starting line-up, irrespective of his team’s performance. Although the former Fenerbahce manager played the same line-up in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904’s all three group games but decided to give the
young ones a chance against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Greece-c2908 in the quarter-final.
Prior to the tournament the tactician benched http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mats-Hummels-c24767 a terrific young defender.
Low is not afraid to make changes to his line-up, this time he decided to stick with team that played in the group stages. He dropped the impressive youngster http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Reus-c23733, who starred in 4-2 victory over Greece, and second player
to be benched was Thomas Muller, they were replaced by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toni-Kroos-c35425.
Following the loss to Italy, the German manager’s line-up was heavily criticised. He insists he could have fielded another line-up but played Podolski and Gomez due to their performances in the group stages.
"I could've used another line-up, but Gomez had scored three goals and Podolski netted too, so I thought it was right to play them together," he is quoted as saying in an interview.
He believes his side conceded because of their own mistakes and some sloppy defending. He also heaped praise on the Italians and considered them to be a classy side, and admitted it was always difficult to come back from two nil
down.
"They punished us for our mistakes and went into the break 2-0 down against such a classy side as Italy, so it was always going to be difficult to get back into it," he added.
Low also took time to praise Balotelli, who he believes is an excellent footballer. The Manchester city striker capitalised on Mannschaft’s errors and scored a stunning brace to fire his side to the final.
"Balotelli is a talented player, we knew that, but he punished us with two goals and we were not entirely free from errors in those moves," he further added.
Now the Joachim Low has the task of picking up his players and getting them ready for another challenge that is qualifying for the 2014 World Cup. The tactician is unlikely to quit his post as he earlier revealed that he will assess
his achievements after the World Cup.
