Joakim Noah, Carlos Boozer lift Chicago Bulls to a 100-89 win over Boston Celtics: NBA Recap
Joakim Noah scored a triple-double; Carlos Boozer added a double-double as the Chicago
Bulls handed Boston Celtics a 100-89 defeat here at the United Center Tuesday night.
Noah had 11 points, 10 assists and 13 rebounds for his career’s second triple double.
"I always tell people I'm a point-center anyway," Noah joked after the game. "I always feel like I can pass the ball. I feel more comfortable with the offense and we have a lot of people who can score the ball in different ways."
Carlos Boozer collected 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to complete his double-double, and Luol Deng also added 21 points, as 6 Chicago players made it into double digit scoring figures on the night.
We all know Rajon Rondo for his passing ability, but this time around he focused more on the scoring to lead the Celtics with 26 points and dished out 8 assists, going 2 of 3 from the three point land. Paul Pierce had 16 points;
he also scored 2 of 3 from distance, as the Celtics shot 50 percent from downtown, but they made only 10 attempts from downtown on the night.
"We are not a good team right now. This is who we are. We are a .500 team." Boston coach Doc Rivers on his team who fell to 12-12 after the loss.
Boston started off well; a Kevin Garnett jumper put them up 7-4 and he added couple more to have Celtics leading 13-8 early in the period. Chicago scored 6 straight to go ahead on 16-15 as they started pulling ahead later in the
quarter, they were leading on 28-23 by the end of the period.
Taj Gibson made a layup to put the Bulls up 32-25, and a three point play by Noah had them leading on 35-27 early in the second period. Chicago started pulling ahead and a 7 nil spurt pushed their lead to 42-29 around the 6 minute
mark. But Boston came back later in the period to cut the deficit down to 48-55 at halftime.
Courtney Lee made a jump shot early in the third period to make it a 3 point game. But the Bulls maintained a sufficient distance and a Noah layup had them up 66-58 near the mid quarter mark. Rondo made a layup to leave the Celtics
trailing 70-79 by the end of the quarter.
Nate Robinson blew away any Celtics' chances of a comeback with two back to back three pointers that put Bulls up 87-73. He connected another one from behind the arc to open up a 20 point advantage midway around the period. The
Bulls were up by 21 points with 3:22 on the regulation; the Celtics scored the final 10 points of the game to go down 89-100 eventually.
