Joakim Noah worked out with legendary centre Kareem Abdul-Jabbar during the off-season – NBA News
Joakim Noah is one of the most hardworking centres in the league today, and one of the best rebounders as well. The Chicago Bulls starting centre is a critical component in the Bulls strategy of defence first, and hustles hard
in the low post to fight for every rebound on both ends of the floor.
Noah’s offence, on the other hand, is not the best in the league when it comes to players in his position, although he works hard and gives it his all in that compartment as well. The French big does not have a great deal of low
post moves, and is limited in his scoring options. Last season, Noah averaged 10.2 points a game on 50 percent shooting, which is average for the league.
However, this upcoming season, Noah might display a little more offence after working with NBA all time scoring leader Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Noah had talked about working with the legendary centre during the summer, and Gary Washburn
of the Washington Post had recently confirmed that Noah did actually spend time with Jabbar during the summer, working on his low post game.
“Kareem Abdul-Jabbar @kaj33 tells Globe he worked with #bulls C Joakim Noah this summer & expects him to have expanded post game this season,” tweeted Washburn.
If there is anyone who can help improve Noah’s game, it is Jabbar. He is a legend in the NBA, winning 6 NBA championships and 6 regular season MVP’s during the course of his career.
Besides, Jabbar has worked with numerous players over the years, and most recently worked with Andrew Bynum in the earlier part of Bynum’s career when Jabbar was a special assistant with the Lakers. He has a big role in Bynum’s
development into one of the best centre players in the league today.
Noah will be facing even greater responsibility this coming season, with the Bulls top scorer and floor general Derrick Rose out for much of the season as he recovers from an ACL injury. If Noah can step up his offensive game and
become a consistent scoring option for the Bulls, it would go a long way in covering up for Rose’s absence. Noah will be one player to watch out for next season.
