Sevilla beat Mallorca 3-1 at the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ramon-c30533 Sanchez Pizjuan, leaving the former Spanish national team cursing their hapless defending.
The outfit from Iberostar Stadium proved to be more than a match for their much-fancied opponents in the first half and were let down by some shambolic defending after the interval, resulting in a humbling away defeat.
Mallorca failed to deal with the creative guile of Jesus Navas and Jose Antonio Reyes, as the duo provided the assists for all of Sevilla’s goals, the former also getting his name on the score sheet in the process.
Tomer Hemed scored the only goal in response to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manu-del-Moral-c23377 and Navas’ strikes, leaving Joaquin Caparros mincing his teeth in anger when the full-time whistle was blown.
The former Spanish national team manager stated his disappointment in the manner Sevilla conceded the first two goals and commented that they are flirting with fire if they continue to defend like this.
Caparros explained in the post-match news conference that he is unhappy because the players failed to keep a clean sheet after going a goal down on a set-piece, and especially cannot afford to protest for a foul, which was their undoing for the second goal.
However, Caparros was full of praise for Sevilla and claimed that his charges were undone by their speed and trickery to allow their efforts in the net.
He highlighted their ability to keep the opposition defenders at bay, while retaliating with quick counter attacks and hitting the target when taking their shots. The Utrera-born tactician noted the performance of Jesus Navas and congratulated him on a solid
outing.
Caparros could not understand Mallorca’s inability to hit the back of the net and stated that they will need to improve on their outings as the Spanish top flight domestic season enters its final stretch.
The outfit from Majorca is ranked 13th on the Primera Division table after accumulating 36 points from their 30 La Liga outings so far. They are 8 points adrift of safety and welcome Granada to the Iberostar Stadium for their next league encounter.
