Question:

Job Interview? Is this legit?

So I'm 3 credit hours away from my bachelor's in psych. I'm a server/bartender but I've been trying to find some sort of part time job doing pretty much anything- just something else I can put on a resume. I got a call back from a comp. that does marketing & wants to do an interview. I stressed in my cover letter that I have a strong sales record (top at my restaurant). I looked up the company online & all I can find other than their website are a bunch of job postings from them. What are the odds this a legit job and not some weird scam where I won't actually make any money? The website insists they don't do "door to door" but I'm worried it might be something similar. Any thoughts?

  1. You should go to the interview, but we very weary about the job. Some places love to hire new meat and get them to work on pure commission. You need to have your priorities and be willing to stick to them. Don't accept anything less. This company may be a recruiter working for other companies. If so, be sure to let them know that you are serious about what you want and are not willing to accept a position that doesn't fit.

If anything, the experience you'll get at the interview will help you in the future.

  2. Some companies are just 'recruiters', basically companies pay them to find people. The interview would then only be to 'weed out' the obviously worthless people. Not saying that's your case, but is worth mentioning.

Go to the interview, what do you have to lose?
