  1. No, there is no law in any state that if you work for a company as a contract worker or temporary worker a company has to hire you on full time or lay you off and be rehired. The airlines use a large base of what's called "temporary part-time" workers or "seasonal" workers. A person can sometimes be in this category for longer than a year or so if the workload is such that they do not want/need to hire the people on as full time workers. The people are given anywhere from 20 hours a week to 40 hours a week and limited benefits. (some vacation days, maybe a few free flights).

  2. The labor laws are usually pretty cut and forward, but you need to know if you are in a free will state.  That means that the employer can fire you at will.  There doesn't have to be a reason, and they don't HAVE to call you back. But 1st find out about your state laws.  Ask a labor attorney.  Check out this site and see if it helps.

  3. YES! Most of the company that usually do that are large corporation because this way they don't pay for medical insurance, most of the time they will have you apply at a temp agency. and they don't have to call you back after your time has expired. it a good way of weeding out the bad workers to the good ones. but remember during the time you are there they have opening for that position so check the bullentin for openings.

  4. no such thing! if ur not permanent dey can do what ever dey pleases to do with you and ders nothing u can do! dey can call u back again if dey wanted to, but its their prerogative whether if dey wanna make u permanent or not. u dont have a contract with them. and no such law existed in california!
