Alright, so a week ago i sent an application to mcdonalds and I'm not sure if the lady i gave it to, gave it to the manager. I called them a couple days later to see if they got my application...but unfortunately the manager wasn't there...my cousin mai already works there and she referring me and my other cousin...mai said you don't have to have an application before you go to an interview...you can fill that out later...

is it true that you can do that?

the thing is, if I get the job I'm going to have to take leave for a whole week b/c my youth group is going to camp but I really want that job too! what do i do?

  1. First off, these jobs are incredibly transient - still - you should NEVER ask for time off within your first three months of work unless you make the interviewer aware. The best way to do it is to say that you've had this planned and you don't like to let people who are counting on you down - that will naturally be assumed to encompass the job as well. You should have the application filled out before the interview. Places like MacDonalds do sometimes have open interviews but - hint - they sometimes like to check out your character by checking out your interaction on the internet - i.e. do you have a Facebook page and have you posted to drunk girl sites or posted risque photos - not always in that fast food restraurant sense but it happens.

  2. You need to fill out the application before you are interviewed.  You must also have proof that you are a US citizen, legal permanent resident or on a visa which has authorization to work.  If the manager wants to interview you, he/she will call you.  Just because you were referred does not mean you will automatically get a job.  They might not have any openings at the moment.  Do call once more - about a week after your prior call -- to be sure the manager received your application.  Then move on and apply elsewhere.

  3. you can't get a job and decide to a take a weeks leave:/

You have to work for some time first:/

I dunno man, what you should hope for is, if MacDonalds still take people after a week.

If you can discuss about the situation to the manager, possibly he may allow it.

He may still give you the job and allow you to start later a week
