Question:

Job description meeting ?

I work in the mortgage industry. I am an upper level employee but not management. A couple days ago I received an email from HR advising that I need to attend a special meeting. I noticed that all the people asked to meet were either supervisors or higher managment. We were all giving a qusetionaire and asked to provide detailed information on all our daily job functions. Do you all think this is something positive or negative?? Has anybody been through something like this ???

Thanks,

  1. Well honestly it could go either way.

HR might be looking to make certain job descriptions are accurate so they can do a wage analysis (comparison of wages with similar jobs at other companies) to make certain they are competitive.  It's also VERY possible that they are looking to see if there is any sort of overlap between jobs titles and functions (so, do you do the same thing as another person in another area)...and if there is redundancy, trimming the fat, as it were.
