Job dilemma ?

I've just been offered a trial for my dream job. The trouble is I don`t think I can get the time off work as were so busy. I've told the guy i would be there on wednesday but I'm still not sure how to make it.

My job is stable but boring. It could be the career change of a lifetime. I'm too stressed now to decide!

  1. I agree with David- It's the first thing I thought of after reading your post.  What if you would always look back with regret?  You can simply tell your current employer that something very important came up suddenly, and you need this day off.  Sorry for the last minute notice, but you wanted to be honest so they could be informed vs. calling in at the last minute.

If they are angry, unless you have habitual attendance issues, chances are they will get over it.

GOOD LUCK ...hope it IS your dream job!!

  2. Depends on your personal situtaion - but I think you have to take the chances when they come or you may regret it forever.

  3. I have to agree with the others, even if it feels wrong, if pretending to be sick is the only way to get the time to go for the trial, you should do it.

    Good luck!

  4. can u take the time off as holiday, if not call in sick on that day

  5. Go for it, it sounds like its something you would love.

Remember the movie "The pursuit of Happyness" he took a risk on a 6 month intern program that didnt pay and now he is very wealthy.

Remember that a lot of times in life you have to take a risk. The bigger the risk, the better the reward. I say go for it and get out of your boring job.
