I was wondering if there were any places near plano, texas that would give a summer job to a 14 year old? I would babysit, but my family doesn't know anyone with kids and our neighbors kids are old enough to watch themselves.

  1. Have one of your parents take you to a branch office of Texas Workforce Commission and ask the Customer Service rep for an "Age of Consent " form. Under federal law,you have to be sixteen to work most non farm jobs and since you're still in school, you can only work four hours a day.

This form is for a Workers Permit . The youngest you can be is fourteen. Have one of your parents fill out the form, sign it,and mail it to the address in Austin. While you're waiting for your permit, take your birth certificate and Social Security card over to Department of Public Safety and get a "Under 21"  state issued ID card.

Every place you apply for work, you'll have to submit a photo copy of your permit. This is to protect your future employer from being accused of using(no offense) child labor.

Go to this website and register for work . Click on "Register As Job Seeker". Fill in all your personal  data including your desired job, desired pay, education level, and what part of the state you want to work in.

Look,we all had to start somewhere and at your age I would recommend the fast food industry. As you get older keep your file updated with any new info whenever you leave one job for another or get training,or a degree or certification of any kind.Go into your file at least once every three weeks to keep it active. If you don't go into your file after 30 days,it'll become inactive and you'll have to come into an office  of Texas Workforce to get it reactivated.

  2. try coldstone or baskin robbins :)

    they hire at 14

and you get free ice cream!

    hope this helps!

  3. It is illegal to hire a14 year old in texas,  you must be at least 15 and the the hours are limited. you best bet would be a family member that has a business.
