Job for a 16 year old

Question

I'm turning 16 in 4 days so I'm finally going to have a little bit of a variety of places to apply for. I have a job at a mcdonalds right now but i get next to no hours and its a 20 minute drive. Most places will only hire you if you are at least 16. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good place I should apply. There's a tim horton's right up the road from me and I was thinking maybe I should apply there. The thing is I really just want to get some more hours. Not A LOT just like 20 a week or something i would be happy with. Right now I get 10 if I'm lucky. I'm trying to help out with paying my cell phone bill and what not but I want some money for my self too here. Oh also I do sports all year round so if I get hired somewhere it has to be where they will be willing to give me hours I can do during the school year. I know thats a lot to ask but I'm a hard worker. there's got to be some place. ok well thanks.

have you discussed this with your current employer?

if you do a good job then the reason you are getting so few hours is due to the limits the labor laws place on 14 and 15 year old employees.

talk to the manager at McDonald's you will find they will usually work around your school schedule IF you are open and honest about what you can work.

Look for a mom and pop place. They will usually work with you alot more than a franchise.
