Job help please please!?

I am 17 and have a weekend job in a clothes shop. I work 4 hours on a Saturday and 4 hours on a Sunday. However, I am hoping to decrease my hours to simply working my Sunday shift so that i can concentrate on my A levels this coming year. I'm not sure if every company is different or if it is the same for each place but do you think this is possible? Or would they say something like i cannot work under a certain number of hours per week?? Thanks for any help.

Don't make something up, just ask your boss if he/she could change your hours to sunday.

i don't modify schedules for my employees for any reason.

i have them scheduled for the days/hours they work for a reason....as well as having labor union rules on minimum hours worked to deal with as well...however, this is in an industry where we are under contract to provide delivery of product within a certain time period regardless of volume.

having said that, every company is different and they may be willing to work with you. however, finding a person to fill your spot on saturday and only work one day will prove challenging, so they may not go for it. only thing you can do is ask and the only thing they can say is no.

the bigger question here is do you really need that 4 hours to study? are you a good enough student to get your grades while working only 8 hours over two days in a weekend? if you have to even ask the question probably not and you probably should forget about the job in order to study and pass with the grades you want.

working only 8 hours a week is not a taxing schedule by any means...and especially at your age......i went back to college late in life and did a full college class load and worked a full time 40 hour week and graduated with honors. it all depends on how bad you want it and whether or not you are committed to doing it.
