Job in games development?

I want a job developing games when I leave school and was wondering what subjects I would need to take at A-level and university. Thanks

This is an extremely competitive field about 1/3 of all male students when they finish high school want to get into games development. And the stupid thing is that there is no particular course work to take. Many of the best game developers are hackers that learned on their own. If you try to get a degree in it, by the time you graduate, you will be considered too old for it.

The best thing to do is to have developed several good games working on your own. If you have not learned how to do this, on your own, by the time you are 17, you are not considered sufficiently interested in the area and will end up working in some other area of IT.
