I am currently 7.5 months pregnant and I have a job interview tomorrow at a local hospital. The position is part-time(sat. & sundays) for outpatient registration. I am worried that they will turn me down because im pregnant. I also have a full time job that i work mon-fri. Im just really needing to have a second job...The father of the baby is not around to help with anything so I am doing this on my own and im fine with that. :-) if you have any advice.. anything helps. Has anyone here been hired while pregnant? also, I plan on going on maternity for the shortest time possible. As long as im feeling good enough to go back to my full time job, I will go back before my 6 weeks. My baby will be taken care of by my mom for the first 2 weeks i go back to work..once my daughter is 6 weeks she goes to a daycare.

  1. I got hired at a bank, worked for a week took off a week to get married, and then had my son three months later and took off six weeks. If you are right for the job they will hire you. Good Luck!!

  2. they can't discriminate against you for being pregnant. Go to the interview with a truck load of confidence.

they will treat you the way you let them treat you. If a strong woman comes in there with "pregnancy is normal and its not a disease or a disability" attitude that is how they will treat you. If they see that you are a wimp and are looking for sympathy they will treat you like that. GO in there and kick some butt.

oh and if they ask about your plans explain to them your child care plans...that way you sound more prepare

  3. If they don't hire you because you're pregnant that is discrimination and it isn't legal. I think you have just as good a chance as anyone to get the job. And if you're only planning on taking a month off then you'd only be missing 8 days.

  4. I was offered a job while 7mths and also offered the same position after my 1 yr maternity. So there are employers out there who care so keep your head up, and please don't be too proud to accept gov't help, it will allow you to be a better Mom in the long run.

  5. all you can do is be yourself and be open and honest.

  6. It'll be somewhat difficult to get any job now that you're in your 3rd trimester.  I've been thinking about the same thing.  I haven't even bothered because I've figured "Who's gunna wanna hire a pregnant woman who'll work for a month and then go on maternity leave?" So I just haven't.  But you never know!  Good luck!!

  7. There is no reason why they would turn you down. I remember, I was working at Bank of America, and they hired this lady who was about to give birth. Our boss told me that big corporation make sure that they hire pregnant girls too because they don`t want to face any lawsuit of discrimination. Good luck!!!

  8. Actually it is against the law not to hire you just because you are pregnant, atleast thats what i was always told :) Good Luck

  9. They can not discriminate against you just because you are pregnant, but I hate to say it, You will more than likley NOT get the job, only because they want to fill the position, and you will not be reliable seeing as you will be leaving to have a baby.  Forget the 2nd job, RELAX, and get one when you have the baby.
