  1. Dress professionally, nice slacks or pants and a blouse or nice shirt.  Put you hair up, keep the makeup natural, don't wear jewelry.

The first impression is very important, smile when you meet your interviewer and when you shake hands, make sure it is a strong hand shake.  Sit up straight in the chair, don't slump, keep your hands folded on your lap.

Be honest in your answers, avoid "hun" "um" "ah" when formulating your answers.

Bring up that you have raised cats in the past, any experience that you can use is helpful.  Since this is your first job, any responsibilities you have at home to show that your are mature enough for this job.

Be confident and friendly, you will do fine, if you don't get this job it's not the end of the world, any experience in interviewing is helpful both now and later on down the road when you looking for future jobs.

  2. There are no "odds" about getting a job after an interview.  You can go for ten interviews and only get one offer, but it's different every time.

Just relax, be yourself, and be enthusiastic about the things you talk about.  Make it clear that you are eager to work hard and a fast learner, and that you love animals.  Ask questions too as it shows you are really interested, and at the end of the interview be sure to thank them for taking the time to see you.

But relax, what is the worst that can happen?  If you don't get this job there are other animal shelters out there.  Don't forget, animal shelters need people to help them so if you're good at the job then they will want to hire you.  Good luck!
