Question:

Job interview tomorrow...HELP!!!?

I applied at Shoprite a little over a week ago, and I decided to call and follow-up with the manager to see if my application had been looked at, because I'm very determined in getting a job before my junior year starts (I'd like a car!). The H&R manager said she had not gotten a chance to look at my application, but asked for my name and then scheduled an interview for me for Thursday (tomorrow) at 11 AM. I was ecstatic! I have a friend who works at Shoprite, and plus, this is the closest I've been to a job in over a year. I've only had one other job prior, and that was a summer job at Wendy's when I was in 9th grade. So, I'm a little worried about my interview tomorrow. I know I excelled really well in my Wendy's interview, but for some reason I'm really anxious/nervous for my interview tomorrow. I hope I say the right things, and that I really nail this interview. Getting this job would mean a lot to me, and I'm in dire need of the cash.

ALSO...

In my application, it asked when I would be available to start working. I'm going on vacation for 4 days (22nd-26th) and I wanted to know if that would be an issue for the interviewer. I mean, I can train/work until the 21st... but I will be gone for 4 days straight. Will this affect me getting hired? I'm really stressed out about this, I'd like some relief. Help!!!

  1. not unless theres a long line of middle aged guys in ties dieing to work at shoprite for 5 cents an hour 24/7

  2. First, make sure you dress appropriately. No tee's or flip flops, jeans only if you don't have anything better. Look the interviewer i the eye and answer their questions honestly and without over explaining. In other words keep answers short and sweet. As far as the days away, let them know right away. You can either train for a few days or just start after you get back. Good Luck!
