I applied for a position for a teller at a Wells Fargo bank. They said interview and screening will be done. What is a screening? Has anyone worked or work for a bank, that could help me out, so that I know what to expect tomorrow afternoon. What is a screening and what exactly do they do? If you know for sure because you had to do the same then let me know.

  1. Screening could mean they'll subject you to a personality test, an aptitude test, a drug test, credit check, or a background check.  Just be prepared to answer a lot of questions.

  2. screening is just them picking and choosing who they want, in short, the interview is a screening tool to help them weed out people they don't want..that's part of the hiring process.

  3. The screening part is probably to see if you can be "bonded" Making sure you have not been convicted of any theft or fraud charge. this would probably include shoplifting. Bonding is normal for anyone handling other people's money.

  4. Barbara is totally right. I have worked in banking for about five years now and have interviewed with two banks. Both of them required the same things. the screening was a quick test after the interview that tests how you will react to certain customer situations. It will test how you word things and the decisions that you make. RELAX... just give the most reasonable answer that 's all they are looking for. I worked for suntrust and they gave me a quick math quiz.. nothing hard. Just be yourself and be professional. You'll do well!

  5. They will do a background and credit check through your social security number (you will have to sign a release).  They may also drug screen, but that will be explained to you at the interview and more than likely, you will not do this right there at the time of interview.

  6. screening is just part of the recruitment process. basically means they see if you have the skills and personality they are looking for. they just ask you questions about yourself - don't worry cos you are the expert on yourself :) good luck!

  7.       -    First and formost - RELAX- you'll be fine!  -

I have worked in upper management for 35 years

Most larger companies, especially Banks, will do a Background / Security check. That will entail, criminal ,financial (credit) and educational information on you.  They will also check personal references.

Some company HR Depts /Recruiters ( don't need your permission), are also checking your ''MY SPACE'' and ''FACEBOOK'' profiles to see if you're hiding anything that could be important to them, (like your true or hidden personality)

<Be careful about what you put on the internet>

During the interview ( Remember to smile) be prepared to answer questions about yourself and tell why you would be the perfect candidate for the position.

(What makes you better than the others?  What you believe you would enjoy about the Banking industry.)

Also be prepared to ask them some intelligent questions, about their company and what they find to be the biggest challenges in their field.

(Do not ask about benefits, salary, vacation time, holidays, wait till they offer you the job - you can always tun it down)

If you get past "Stage One" with HR or Manager,  They may have you fill out a ''What If'' questionnaire.  This is a Personality Profile that will determine how you will fit in with the company and people. ( or if you have any major character flaws)  Be honest but smart. Sometimes trying to trick the questionnaire can hurt you and make you look bad.

As far as the Drug test, they usually will have you sign a consent that says you are willing to take and pass a drug test for condition of  employment / hire.

Don't worry (unless you have something to hide).  Relax -

Go on the Internet - do some research on the company, the responsibilities of position you would be hired for, you'll feel more comfortable and relaxed.

And after the interview, if you really want the Job, REMEMBER to ask, when they will be making a decision on the position and when would you be able to start - go for the close.( remember to smile)

    Good Luck!
