  1. Dress appropriately. That means absolutely no jeans and T-shirts. I wore black pants and a blouse.

Even if you already handed in your resume, bring an extra copy with you! For if the person who forwarded it to your manager, lost it, then you will seem unorganized and unprepared.

Also bring your portfolio with you...That is, it should have a few copies of your resume, reference letters and awards and perhaps photos of you doing extracurricular activities.

Greet the manager nicely and only sit down AFTER he/she sits down or asks you to have a seat. Don't slouch whether you are standing or sitting, and don't chew gum. If you want to have fresh breath, then pop a mint a few minutes before your interview.

If the manager asks why you want to work there...Never say "for the pay" or "because I'd like to work with my friends." Say that you would like to work there because it has a nice atmosphere and you'd like to work in a fast-paced situation.

Oh, and never say "um" even though I know everybody does it all the time. And it's hard to avoid not to do it...Look the manager in the eye when speaking. If you don't, it'll look like you're hiding something or you're nervous.

  2. Tell them you put your hands up your butt after you pee each time you go to the restroom!

  3. Dress nicely, show up on time, bring photo id w/you. If you're under 18, bring working papers (you can get them from the office at your school). It also helps to have flexible availability (nights/weekends) to work. Good luck!
