Hello so I am planning to move to the Cabos after graduation. I have some experience in marine field work and working in a hospital. Any ideas about where I should start the job search? what are my options in the Cabos? Or can you tell me the names of the local public hospitals where I can at least do some volunteer work since I am not a doctor yet? I am fluent in both spanish and english. Thanks!!!

  1. Hola.  This is one of the most popular questions for Cabo.  Lots of people have dreams of working and living here!  I don't blame them!

To tell you the truth, there is a process.  Any foreigner wanting to legitimately work in Mexico has to be sponsored by a company, or business partner. One thing you have going for you is you speak english/spanish.  As far as hospitals and private clinics go, we have alot here, and more and more plastic surgery opening every day.

Come down and start networking to see if someone will be willing to take you on and sponsor you as an employee.  They won't do it over the phone or email, so no sense giving you a bunch of clinic names.  If you are really serious, you can hit the pavement running when you get here.  If you only volunteer, then you can only stay in Cabo for 180 days, and then have to return to your country and come back again.  It gets to be a pain.  You can start the FM3 process before you come, but again you need a sponsor.  Come down, get to know your turf and then work your connections.  Good luck!

p.s. If you are becoming a mexican citizen...then never mind!  You are half way there then to finding work here!  The job offers in the health industry will be coming to you!  all the best.
