I've had Type 1 Diabetes for 13 years [I'm 18 now] and I would like to get a job that helps people with diabetes or something. What kind of degree should I get? And what type of jobs are there for this? Thanks!

  1. You can look into dietician type jobs..maybe nursing or physician assistant jobs as well...I would think that being a dietician would be rewarding for you since you know firsthand the challenges of having a healthy diabetic diet. good luck!

  2. mabe a doctor or a kids doctor

  3. Get your degree in Nursing - BS degree, then go specialize in Certified Diabetic Educator. We need many more of these people than you can believe.

One cannot be a CDE unless one has medical degree to start with. Nursing, Medic, Pharmacist, etc.

You can almost write your own ticket if you have this education!!! Very highly sought after peoples.

  4. something in the medical field would be good, like nursing, then you could work with pediatric patients in the hospitals or  with a pediatric endocrinologist. In nursing you can always advance your degree, bachelor, masters, nurse practitioner, etc
