  1. yea but I drive a 4cyl car so gas is no prob

  2. yeah 15 miles isn't very far at all. i think it's definately worth it. the furthest i would drive would proabably be about 30min because i live in a small town.

  3. 15 miles is not far at all!  i wish i can find a job that close.

  4. Yeah, I have a 15 mile commute, no big deal, most days I ride my motorcycle. It used to be 30, but I moved to a different building with the same company. In major metro areas, a 15 mile commute is nothing. For me, it would have to be about an hour to an hour and a half each way before I'd start thinking about another job.

  5. An RV salesman friend drives 82 roundtrip.  He makes a good living.  My wife does a 50 round trip for 16/hour.

if the alternative was NO job, i'd enjoy the ride as much  as possible, untill something better came a long.

  6. It depends on the traffic.  In Alaska I used to commute 20 miles to school and work every day.  Now, socially that was a mistake.  But it wasn't an onerous commute.

If I lived someplace like LA, I wouldn't want to consider 10.  (What the **** is wrong with people who live in LA?)

  7. 15 miles is not far even if pay wasnt good its better than having no job

  8. I drive 15 miles to work to a good paying job.  Some of my co-workers drive 40 to 45 miles one way.  So for them it is not too far.  The farthest I have driven for a job was 31 miles one way.

If you drove 75 miles one way to a job that pays $100K, is that too far?

It is not my intentions to make light of your question.  We can all agree here is no right or wrong answer.  People do what they need to do to make a living, live where they want or need, live in a community that is safer or provides a better education for their children, and on and on.

I hope a question like this one helps people to understand the value of money and what it represents.  I believe while we have done a pretty good job in this country (the US) to educate people which allows them to be employed and be paid for their labors, we have done a terrible job on teaching people what to do with the money once it is their hands except to spend.  A friend of mine offered some good advice.  Your life will be a lot better when your wants are close to your needs.

That is all I have to offer.

    Cheers.

  9. 15 miles is not too bad, as long as the traffic is all right.    Here in Los Angeles, 15 miles might take an hour during rush hour, so I wouldn't do it.

  10. Where I live, 15 miles is a reasonable commute for work, as gas is still under $4 a gallon, and my car and small truck both get around 26 mpg. So, commuting would cost me about $4 a day.

But, I work from home ;-)

Still, gas prices are getting many people to look at sharing commuting costs by car pooling. If you can find people in your company who live near you to ride share, then the radius of your commute can be longer, and still be economical. And on days when its their turn to drive, you can read the paper on the way in!

  11. the pay would have to be good cause price on gas is crazy
