Question:

Job with the post office?

I live in Indiana and I'm trying to get a job with the post office. I've applied online to take the test and haven't received anything yet in the mail telling me when and where to go for the test. It's been almost two weeks. How long does this usually take to get the testing info? Do they only send out the info if post offices near you are hiring? In a couple years I'm moving to PA. Does the post office let you transfer between states?

  1. I may be wrong, but as far as I know the only way to apply for jobs is through the local PO. Was the site that you applied to a USPS website? If not, then forget it. And the previous poster sounds like a bitter person. There are people like that at every job. There are also ones like that at some PO's. And depending on your job you wouldn't necessarily work at night.

  2. It could be a couple of years before they have tests.Depending if any new facility is opening. Granted it is a good job,but be prepared to work nights and follow an order no matter what. Also it is a boring thankless frustrating job.You will work with people who are mentally unstable, your managers are brainwashed and know less than you about your job, your coworkers can turn into rats and backstabbers. When you transfer anywhere, you move back down and will have to work nights again, also nepotism is prevalent. GOOD LUCK!!!
