  1. i cant really be specific, because i dont know what you like but just write up, like a 1 page resume and walk around a shopping center or somewhere like that and give them the piece of paper. Just say, hey im interested in working here. Are there any positions available. If they want you then they'll probably just start off by giving you a basic job, and then you'll eventually move up. After you get more experience, you could move into a better job.

  2. Coles, Woolworths, IGA, K-mart, Target, Big W, The Warehouse, Supercheap, Autobarn.... etc - the list is endless.  The love taking on younger people.

My son started at Coles at 14.1/2 yrs

Starting rate was $8.35 more on Sundays and some holidays. He just turned 17 and left that job today - he was now getting $15 on Sundays and $11 normal hours.  I assume it would be the same for Kmart, Target, Office Works etc as they are all under the same company (name).

You generally start on checkouts, then can go into whatever is available - my son did Bakery and produce.  Gives you more hours and of course $$$

A great website that explains it all is http://www.wageline.qld.gov.au/youngwork...  and http://www.thesource.gov.au

A great site based for young people. 12 - 25 yrs old.

Well worth the read - especially on your first job.

    - Most of the places above you apply online on their websites, look for a link 'careers' or 'employment'.  A bit lengthy I know.... but you fill in what area you want to work etc, and they will email you jobs coming up, you can pick and choose, if you are then accepted they will call you in for an interview.

One other thing and I am not sure if you school does this, but in Qld they have school-based apprenticeships.  So you can be at school for 2 or 3 days a week and work the rest and get paid!   This way you get a head start on an apprentice, such as plumber, painter, engineer, - anything your heart desires.  The school career adviser sets it all up for you, might be worth talking to them about it.

    Good Luck with it all.

  3. Hey man, if you write up a resume of your achievements, ect, you will have NO PROBLEM finding a job. This is because there is a shortage of workers in casual/part time work.  Also, make sure you get a job close to home, no one likes commuting! Good luck, I hope you find a good job!
