I turned 15 years old in May.

Im going to be a sophomore.

I had a phone freshman year, but i screwed that up with my parents. ha

I'm prolly going to need a phone for this year. Why?

1. I'm going to attend at least some extra cirricular activities. like student council, photography, or something like those. Of course, I will be going to tutoring and staying after school for test I didn't take.

Yes, I sound like a nerd. Actually, I'm changing, putting school first. No boys, don't worry too much of what people think of me, don't always worry about what kinda music is popular, and more.

AND

2. To text my friends and call them. You know like a normal teenager. lmao(:

So, I talked to my mom and dad. I asked them:

What if I get a job on the weekends, during school year, and pay for the phone bill.

But you pay for the phone itself.

(I'm getting the phone from Pocket.).

They said yes, as long as I keep my grades up and no slacking.

But I have to find a job:/.

I tried Six Flags this summer, but i was too late:/.

& I tried other places

This isn't gonna be the first time for me.

My friend's mom told me they let 15 year olds work at Forever 21.

Is that true.

See all i'm

looking for is a Job for my age, on weekends, that make me enough money for a phone.

Yes, it may take a while. I did the math. But still.

Please.

Thank Youu♥

  1. legally you can do many different jobs at 15 but most employers will not hire you because many at this age lack maturity, work-ethic and job-skills. it seems that you are working hard at changing that perception so if you apply and and make a great first impression you will have a good chance to get hired.

fast-food and grocery stores are some of the best places to learn the skills that will translate to better jobs as you get older. restaurants and grocery stores are usually the best options for minors under 16 because they find it easier to work within the labor guidelines for that age group.

at 15 there are limits on when and how much you can work. most companies have their own policies concerning the hiring of minors so the only way to know about individual businesses is to apply.

be sure when you go to apply that you are dressed appropriately that you go when the business is slow and ask for a manager, introduce yourself and politely ask for an application and the appropriate time to bring it back. you must have great references so talk to coaches, teachers, clergy, friends parents, anyone you have done casual labor for or places you have volunteered. make sure you ask them if you may use them for a reference and get current contact information for them.

for info about hours you can work, work permit, job suggestions, interview information etcetera go to: http://www.youthrules.dol.gov

there are links for each state with info for employers, educators, parents and TEENS

at 14 or older you can work in an:

    office,

    grocery store,

    retail store,

    restaurant,

    lodging facilities,

    movie theater,

    baseball park,

    municipal parks(city or county),

    amusement park, or

gasoline service station just to name a few……………….

some businesses that do hire 14 and 15 year old employees include:

McDonald's, Burger King, Chic-Fil-A, Sonic, Krogers, Publix, Stop & Shop, Hardee's, Dollar Store, Target

IN MANY STATES AS YOUNG AS 12:

You can deliver, or sell at a street stand, newspapers and periodicals (selling subscriptions is not allowed)

You can work as an actor or performer in motion pictures, television, theater or radio.

You can work in a business solely owned or operated by your parents.

You can work on a farm owned or operated by your parents.

When school is out of session you can work on a private farm picking and selling fruits and vegetables.

(most agriculture employment falls under a different set of laws not part of FLSA and in some states allows agricultural employment as young as 10)

you always have the options of casual labor(working for an individual):

You can mow lawns and other yard work(as casual labor only)

You can clean houses(as casual labor only)

You can wash cars(as casual labor only)

You can Tutor(as casual labor only)

You can work as a pet-sitter/dog-walker(as casual labor only)

You can assist the elderly.(as casual labor only)

You can work as a baby-sitter.(as casual labor only and some states do restrict the age for baby-sitting)

just to name a few ideas............................

  2. Honestly I would say the main ways to make money are babysitting, bussing tables or like offering personal work for example: washing cars, working in gardens OR Coldstone hires at 15 maybe there is one where you live...

    Good Luck!

  3. baby sit, dog sit, offer to walk dogs, garage sale, mow lawns, sell lemonade, clean houses, clean garages, pull weeds, ebay, a dishwasher at a restaurant(some do hire), paper route, wash inside and clean outside of cars, some fast food places hire, make crafts and sell them house to house.

There are many opportunities, just find something you like to do and go from there. Im 14 and I started trying to make money a few months ago. I like to excercise, so I decided to mow lawns for neighbors(its not neccessarily something that I liKe to do though) But I do like to sell things, and I often do garage sales. Just find something you like and work hard at it, if you work hard you will do well. I now have around 1,800 dollars. Just put yourself out there, I also recently offered to babysit a kid next door, and dogsit for 2 neighbors if they ever need me too. Good Luck!!

  4. your probly not going to find a "real" job at 15.......im 16 and im still looking for a job in my area.

  5. Well, I checked the Forever21 website for you & as far as I can tell it's for high school graduates only. However, I think it would be a good idea to call the store near you & ask them personally. Also, check out jobs like Teen$ mentioned. Babysitting was my first job. You could also find a job as a tutor, helping younger kids with their homework. You could do small jobs for people you know, such as lawn work or home cleaning as well. My mom made hundreds of dollars on arts and crafts too, so if you check a nearby art store you might be surprised at what you can come up with. Check the local paper too because often there are jobs for all ages and maybe simple things such as an older person looking for help around the house or with shopping. That's about all I guess, but you can e-mail me if you have any questions and if you do answer any ads make sure a parent comes with you because it's always dangerous to answer an ad on your own. =] -Jolene-

  6. McDonalds...  don't laugh!  It looks awesome on your resume and are easily hired down the road by other companies having the experience built with the company.

They offer good pay, full training and flexibility and if you really end up liking it there, you can actually grow a career with the company.
