  1. my suggestions would be to 1.  think about what you are interested or like doing and 2.  think about where you would want to get a discount

when you are 16, you are pretty much limited to fast food or retail.  i for one would never work in fast food, it just doesn't appeal to me at all.  so i would recommend thinking of stores you like to shop in, like what clothing stores you like, music stores, bookstores, best buy/circuit city type places, anything like that.  wherever you work, you will get at least some type of employee discount, and most places offer pretty darn good employee discounts!  i used to work at old navy and i got a discount not only at old navy, but at gap and banana republic too (because they are all owned by the same company)

another suggestion (if you like kids), find a party place for kids like chuck e cheese.  i worked at a place called bounce u (i don't know if there are any around you) but it was an amazingly fun job and the money was great because we made tips on top of our hourly

  2. Mickey D's

  3. Try simple places. The majority of my friends all work at either Starbucks or Jamba Juice. If your school has a career center, check with the counselors. If you school does have a career center, employers looking for easy (mostly cashier jobs & whatnot) positions will send notices to the high schools.

You could try teen stores, like Aeropostale or American Eagle.

Just find easy things. Especially if you're going to have the job when the school year starts.

  4. Most fast food places will employ anyone 15 and over so try there (wendys, McDonalds, Burger King). Or if your city has a public pool just take a 4 day life guarding class and you can work there or at any other pool.
