  1. You will never get the job if you don't know what they do.  Find someone from the department, take them to lunch and ask them about the set up.  They will be thrilled that someone thinks their job is good enough to be sought after.  Be direct.  Say what you want and they will tell you the best approach.  Life is simple if you just ask.

I have been in sales for 20 years, if you're good it pays very well.

  2. Have a word with the manager of the "marketing" and sales department, see what they're looking for in a candidate, what qualification requirements they prefer, the background and to see if they have any vacancies coming up. Other than that, you can write up a CV and covering letter detailing your experiences and desires to move in to marketing and sales, describing how your experience can benefit a new employer in that capacity, and then post it online on job boards/to local companies.

  3. Look for jobs and agencies in that area on the internet or job centre/local agencies ( look in the yellow pages), and send your c.v to them.
