Question:

Jobs in the Art History area?

Hey! I've always had a passion for art. My mom is an artist so I've pretty much always been surrounded by art. I also have a huge interest in history. I'm currently a junior in high school but I'm hoping to study art history in college and get an internship with a museum of some sort. My dream job would be to an art curator and work for the Metropolitan Museum of Art or something like that.

Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone has tips for me as far as how I should go about finding internships, what classes I should take, and everything else that I should know about jobs in the field of art history. Thanks!!

  1. why not start now by volunteering at a local museum ?

  2. Try volunteering at your local historical society.  They often have a bunch of old stuff, and learning to catalogue it and preserve it would be a valuable leg up when you get to college and can work, possibly, in your college's art museum.  During college, apply for internships at museums.  Get in tight with professors and they will help you.
