i am really interested in two major careers in the medical field

1: Radiology

2: Surgent

I have never been toooo scared of blood and stuff but you know.

(If you are working in one of the two it will be really helpful thanks)

I want to raise alot of money for the future family no matter how long school takes, i have always wanted to be a doctor my whole entire life (even when i was little)

1: what do you think of the careers?

2: what do you think the pay average will be for both jobs?

Below are questions if you are in one of the two careers only

1: how is the expirience?

2: what schools did you go to?

Thank you for helping me out everyone

  1. Not being scared of blood is a good start! As you go through school, you will get more and more used to seeing blood, disease, deformity, death and so on. Most people have to get used to it, but it gets easier as you go.

First thing you have to do is get very good at your schoolwork. Colleges and medical schools won't admit students with poor grades and poor writing skills. Science and math are the most important subject, but they look at all your grades.

I'm having trouble understanding what you're asking. Do you only want to know about being a doctor, or about any career in radiology or surgery?

Doctors do 4 years in college, then 4 years in medical school. Then they can have an office practice, but most of them will do a year (2? not sure) as an intern in a hospital, where they work for a while in one specialty, then in another and so on. Then they do a residency, same thing, but they're more on their own. Then a residency in their specialty.

Surgeons may have to do even more years of residency if they specialize in, say, brain surgery. Surgeons have to be able to work for hours on their feet, fully alert, every single day. They may get called in for emergencies.

Radiologists rarely see the actual patients. They look at the x-ray films and write reports on what they see, including any diagnoses.

You can be a radiology tech or an operating room tech with just a 2-year degree. The money is decent, but you won't get rich. But college and medical school cost a lot, so some people get the tech degree and work, and their job will pay for them to finish their 4-year degree and even grad school. You can work your way up in radiology without being a doctor. It can pay very well if you do.
