Jocelyn Deschamp enthrals Dominik Zietek in qualification round of 2012 Polish Open
Men’s Singles expert Jocelyn Deschamp stayed invincible in his opening match of the Polish Open as he stamped Dominik Zietek during the qualification round on Thursday, August 30, 2012.
This epic tussle remained in full swing for 32 minutes and both contenders put a laudable show of skills while piling up final figures 17-21, 21-13 and 21-13.
Jocelyn, who belongs to France, came back from behind and saved some honour by proving his worth in the ending two games.
The local shuttler Dominik failed to show consistency in his craft and fell flat on his face in crucial moments of the battle.
Though, he lifted his supporter’s hopes by claiming opening match point on merit but then frittered away his efforts in last two sets.
In the opening game, Dominik was completely on song as he moved swiftly across the court and confounded his competitor with a flurry of well placed strokes.
He laid the foundation of his supremacy by prevailing in seven consecutive rallies after 2-4 score and maintained the upper hand all the way to game point situation.
He strengthened his grip in the third quarter of the set and then ensured his success in first set by registering a 21-17 margin.
The following game was completely dominated by the French shuttler as he did not make even a single mistake and turned his rival’s plans of a straight-set victory into dust.
This time he played positive badminton and dominated the overall pace of the game. He bagged valuable points without any interruption and placed an indomitable total of 11 before the break.
Later part of the game was sheer disappointment for local shuttler as he could not come out of his opponent’s influence and surrendered after facing a 13-21 defeat.
Third set was also a one-sided affair as Jocelyn proved his dominance in tactical and technical aspects of the game. He did not give Dominik even a single counter-attack opportunity and blew him away with a gutsy knock.
He sent his opponent packing with a concluding figure of 21-13 and marched into the second stage of qualification round where he will meet another Polish player, Adam Sowa.
