Jochen Schuemann and Sébastien Col happy with first regatta victory: 2011 Region of Sardinia Trophy
Audi Sailing Team Powered by All4One have clinched their first regatta victory at the Gulf of Cagliari in Sardinia. The skipper-helm of the Franco-German sailing team, Jochen Schuemann and the tactician Sébastien Col, are very happy to win the 2011 Region
of Sardinia Trophy. They are pleased with their crew’s performance throughout the event.
The Audi Sailing Team Powered by All4One was troubled by the Cagliari Mistral, which was gusting around 25 knots during the initial races, however, the Franco-German crew held their own and sailed terrifically under such hard conditions.
Speaking to the local media after the victory, Schuemann said, “First event win ever for this Audi team, last year we finished twice second, so this is quite special for us. We´ve sailed really solid these last days. Today, we broke the spinnaker in the
first race while hoisting, that was quite stupid and could´ve put us at risk but the second race went great.”
He added, “It feels good to win, not more not less, it will be hard next time. We had a good lead but we had three boats really close behind us for a while. It´s a very close competition and we are looking forward for the next regatta in Cartagena”
