Jockey Barry Geraghty determined to take part in the Grand National Event – Horse Racing Update
At this point in time, the attention of the fans of the sport and all those involved in the business of horse-racing, are caught up by two of mega events of the season. One of these events is the Dubai World Cup which is taking place at the ever famous Meydan
race-course and the second one is the Grand National meeting that will be taking place at the Aintree race-course and will start on 7 April.
The trainers of some of the best race-horses and the champion jockeys are all preparing to make the best out of the Grand National Event. The height of determination for the meeting can be assessed by the fact that the famed jockey Barry Geraghty has announced
that he will just take a week off to recover from the fall that he suffered at the Newbury race-course, but will still be a part of the Aintree meeting
It was reported on Sunday that the jockey had his arms and shoulders were sore and stiff, nonetheless he did not break any of his bones. He tumbled to the ground when his mount Kerada took a wrong exit from the fourth last fence while he was running in the
Listed novice chase that took place at Newbury race-course on Saturday.
When the injured jockey was approached by the correspondents to inquire about his condition, he was reported as saying that he has absolutely no trouble in moving since he did not break any of his bones. He told the media that he will just rest for a week
to recover from the pain that he is feeling in his arms and shoulders.
The race-horse rode Monty’s Pass in the 2003 edition of the Grand National meeting, and so far does not have a mount for this year’s edition of the prestigious event.
On the other hand, the leader of the Irish jockey championship, Paul Townend will not be taking part in the Grand National event since he has been put out of action by a fracture in his left collarbone.
