Jockey Clark taken to hospital after an unlucky ride: Horse Racing News
It was the first race for the jockey, Tim Clark, at the Windsor racecourse on Monday. This did not prove out to be very lucky one for him as he has been suspected to have fractured his cheek-bone (zygomatic arch) during the play. He was then taken to the hospital by an air-ambulance with reported concussions.
The meeting during which the jockey got inured was the Apprentice handicap that took place over a distance of 6 furlongs. The jockey rode in connection with the yard of Sir Mark Prescott. He was riding the racehorse Rich And Reckless in the aforementioned race, when he accidently smashed his face on the back of the head of the horse, as soon as the horse and his rider left the stalls for the race.
Nonetheless, the brave jockey did not give into the pain and continued to ride till the end of the race and then managed to finish the race in the sixth place from a field of nine runners. As soon as the jockey came to the weighing room at the end of the race, he showed signs of concussion. He was then examined by the course doctor who advised that he should be taken to the John Radcliffe hospital situated in Oxford.
When the trainer of the racehorse Rich And Reckless was approached by the correspondents regarding the condition of the jockey, he was reported as saying, “I’m with him now and he has been flown to the John Radcliffe. He’s in a stable condition.”
He further went on to say, “It appears he hit his head on the horse as they came out of the stalls and has done really well to stay on. I’m proud of the boy and the horse.”
On the other hand, the racing director of the Windsor racecourse, Gemma Charrington, said that Tim Clark was concussed pretty badly and she suspects that he might as well has fractured his cheek bone. She also revealed that the jockey returned in great pain as he was unable to answer any of the questions that were put forward to him.
