Jockey Darryll Holland out of Chester May due to negligence – Horse Racing News
It is indeed very unfortunate for the jockey Darryll Holland that he will be missing out on the Chester May meeting due to his own negligence.
It has been reported that the talented jockey has been suspended by the racing industry for three days because Holland failed to weigh in for the fourth spot after the race that took place at the Southwell race-course on Wednesday.
The reason why this could be a big deal for him, his fans and his riding career is the fact that the race is considered to be one of the most prestigious events of the racing season.
Holland was aboard the race-horse Olympic Dream in the aforementioned race. The colt has been reported to be the trainee of the famed trainer Michael Herington. The duo could only manage to finish the race in the second division. The race took place over
a distance of seven furlongs and it was a handicap event. Olympic Dream finished seven lengths behind the winner of the race. Nonetheless, he was also disqualified from the meeting as he was not able pass the standards of the scales that were set after the
race had ended.
When the embarrassed jockey was approached by the correspondents to inquire about the whole scenario he confessed that it was indeed his fault. Justifying his actions he said that he thought it was not important to weigh in for the fourth place because it
did not carry any prize money, as there was also no betting for the fourth spot.
According to the reports, the jockey is under suspension from 4-6 May. He is very disappointed and saddened because now he will not be able to feature in the significant Chester meeting. It was otherwise not a very bad day for Holland. He made appearances
on the race track twice, once on the race-horse Little Black Book and Maristar in the Fibresand race-course. Both the aforementioned race-horses are the trainees of the champion trainer Gerard Butler. In the light of these two performances, it was a successful
day for Holland.
