Jockey Pat Smullen aims to guide Emulous to a majestic victory in the Windsor Forest Stakes
Rider Pat Smullen is ecstatic about his ride on, Emulous, in the Group 2 Windsor Forest Stakes at Royal Ascot on 20th June, 2012.
The five-year-old bay mare is in an incredibly good form, and is likely to perform extremely well in this mega-event as well.
Smullen has been paired with this runner since her career began on 12thOctober, 2009, when he guided her to the 1 length victory over TRI Fillies Maiden at the Curragh.
The skillful jockey recently led her to a victory at the Curragh on 26th May, 2012, in the Group 3 TRI Equestrian Stakes, where she raced as a favourite, and finished 1 ¾ lengths ahead of the G.M Lyons trained, One Spirit.
The Dermot Weld-trained bay mare has an incredibly impressive record, since she has recorded seven victories and three placed finishes in her eleven starts.
Smullen believes she has all the talent she needs to conquer a Group 2 event, since she has proved herself in the Group 1 Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes at Leopardstown, which was her closing race of 2011, and she sealed it with a 3 length
victory over, Together.
Smullen told the press:
"She had a Group One penalty and won very easily, hopefully that will leave her right for a crack at Royal Ascot."
He further added: "I couldn't be more pleased with her. Her comeback run was very encouraging and she's always been a filly we've thought a lot of.
"She seems to be getting better as she gets older. Right now you'd have to be pleased with the way she is.”
Rock Critic, who is also trained by Dermot Weld, will participate in the Royal Hunt Cup on 20th June, 2012, and the jockey looks optimistic about his chances as well.
Under Pat Smullen’s command, the bay gelding secured the victory in the Follow @TipperaryRaces On Twitter Race at Tipperary on 3rd May, 2012, where he defeated the K.J. Condon trained, Mojita, by 3 ½ lengths, who was ridden
by Ross Coakley.
Smullen commented on his form and stated:
"The Hunt Cup is the plan with him. He's a good old horse and comes good this time of year."
