Jockey Peter Toole improving after Aintree fall: Horse Racing news
The John Smith Grand National event, which took place at the start of April 2011, was one of the most anticipated and flaunted events of the current racing season. The Aintree meeting was able to provide the fans of the sport with a great deal of quality
racing.
Nonetheless, during the last race of the event some very unfortunate incidents took place. This included the death of two racehorses, Dooneys Gate and Ornais. Meanwhile, conditional jockey Peter Toole was severely injured after he fell off his mount, and
was shifted to the intensive care unit of the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
This unfortunate accident caught the attention of many people including leading trainers and sports analysts, who blamed the fast pace of the race and the hot weather for causing the exertion of the racehorses.
It was reported that the injured jockey, who is admitted at the Walton Centre in Liverpool, was transferred from the intensive care unit to the high-dependency unit.
The jockey has been under treatment ever since he was moved to the hospital after the fall at the Aintree racecourse. According to doctors, the medical condition of the jockey can't be referred to as stable, but he has shown significant signs of improvement.
They added that not much could be said about his recovery until he regains consciousness.
When the almoner of the Injured Jockeys Fund, Karen Sharpe, was approached by reporters to inquire about the condition of Peter Toole, she said, “Visiting hours in this ward are very limited and hence it would be helpful if any friends hoping to visit Peter
could make contact with either myself or his parents before travelling to Liverpool.”
On the other hand, the fans of the jockey and others involved in the horse business are very concerned about the condition of Toole. They are praying for him and are supporting his family and parents in every way possible. Even though he has shown slight
improvement, it is nonetheless vital that he regains consciousness.
