Jodi Ewart qualifies for final round of LET final qualifying school
Jodi Ewart finished the fourth round of the Ladies European Tour (LET) Q-School and qualified for the final round of the tournament on Wednesday, January 18, at La Manga Club in Spain.
Ewart, the 24-year-old English professional golfer, defeated other 51 amateur and professional golfers by scoring 11-under par. She topped the leaderboard with a four-stroke lead over Anais Maggetti.
She started the tournament with an average score but from the second round till the fourth, she showed some major golfing skills and secured the top most position on the leaderboard.
The final round will be starting today and it is highly expected that Ewart will again lead the leaderboard with massive a lead.
Scoring an 11-under par at the Qualifying tournament is quite appreciable. She displayed an impressive performance and is confident to shine in the final round as well.
“I didn’t get very many chances today. They just weren’t failing at all. I had one bad hole which set me back a couple of shots but nothing really went in,” Ewart said at the day end.
The young English golfer turned professional in June 2010. Her scoring average and appealing performance on the course makes her stand out among her rivals.
Ewart already received the Ladies Professional Golf Association’s tour card for the current year and is now looking forward to the LET.
The runner-up Anais Maggetti is Switzerland’s amateur golfer and is giving a tough time to Ewart.
She did not start the tournament well but for the last two rounds, her scores are compatible with the leader, Ewart.
Maggetti is confident to lead the score board over Ewart. She has a chance to become a professional golfer if she finishes in the top 30 golfers. Her fourth round performance was also appreciable with long putts and amazing birdies.
“I’m very happy and I holed two long putts of 20 meters. Tomorrow I want to play the same as today,” Maggetti said.
A total of 52 golfers will be competing against each other today and the top 30 finishes will receive the LET membership for the year 2012.
The rest of the 22 golfers will also be given membership, but they will have fewer chances to play in the current year.
