Jodi Ewart wins Ladies European Tour’s Final Qualifying School
Jodi Ewart has recorded a 2-stroke win in the Ladies European Tour's (LET) Final Qualifying School.
English Ewart held her nerve throughout the final round and avoided repeating the mistakes that she made in the 4th round.
She recorded an aggregate score of 11-under par to surge past her nearest rival Swiss Anais Maggetti.
Ewart, already pumped up by her 4-stroke lead which she gained in the last round, set foot on the South Course with plenty of confidence. She kicked off the round by parring the first 3 holes.
The final day saw strong winds sweeping across the course but the weather condition proved beneficial for the 24-year-old Ewart.
She cheered up spectators on the difficult par-3 second hole. She faltered a little on the 2nd as she nearly carded a bogey, but bounced back, recording a par.
The North Yorkshire woman wavered, yet again, on the par-5 4th hole as she launched a bogey. She then parred 4 holes in a row.
Ewart, who found the weather quite comfortable for her putts, came off well on par-5 9th hole. She drained an impressive birdie.
On the other hand, Ewart's closest competitor Anais Maggetti seemed a little more confident than she was in her last round.
Maggetti, who already piled up good scores to follow Ewart, found herself in a better situation on the South course.
Although the Swiss amateur started her day by carding a bogey, she bounced back on the difficult par-3 2nd hole.
She launched an impressive birdie. She did not appear to be troubled by fierce winds of La Manga, as she parred 4 holes in a row without faltering at all.
Maggetti stunned the spectators again when she launched 2 straight birdies on par-4 7th and par-4 8th hole.
Ewart looked fired up on the back nine. She parred the 10th hole and then reeled off a much-needed birdie on par-4 11th hole.
On the next hole, she found herself in a little trouble with her putts as she ended up recording a bogey.
Thanks to her good performance in previous rounds, Ewart managed to maintain the upper hand on her rivals.
“It feels good. I mean, fourth on the LPGA and now winning the LET: it’s a pretty good off-season if you ask me. It feels good and I’m really looking forward to this year,” she said.
