Jodie Meeks stars as Philadelphia 76ers humiliate Washington Wizards 120-89 - NBA Recap
Washington Wizards nightmarish run in the shortened NBA season continues.
On Friday night, Philadelphia 76ers literally toyed with their defence and handed them their 10th defeat of the season.
76ers started the game dominantly and had already turned the game in their favour by the end of the first half. In the third frame, 76ers changed the gears further and outscored the dismal Wizards 38-18 to make it 92-58.
The final frame was a mere formality as the game had already gone miles away from the Wizards. Fortunately for them, they put up some fight in the fourth quarter to avoid one of their most humiliating defeats in the season.
76ers were simply outstanding in all the departments and completely outmatched Wizards in shooting from the floor (55.3%-44.4%), from downtown (66.7%-23.5%) and the assists (27-18).
Seven players from the side managed to produce double digit tallies.
Jodie Meeks was phenomenal and marshalled his side with a game high 26 points on a near perfect shooting, knocking down 10 for 11 from the floor including an aggressive 6 for 7 from the long range.
"He was red hot, white hot, I don't know what kind of hot, but he was on fire," Coach Doug Collins said.
Jodie himself was overjoyed with his performance and added he would try to continue producing healthy tallies throughout the season, but this performance wasn’t likely to be repeated.
"It's just one night," he said. "Every night's not going to be like that, I know that. I just try to run the hot streak as long as I can."
Louis Williams pounded 19 points and dished out 6 assists while Andre Iguodala and Elton Brand accumulated 13 points each including a combined 12 rebounds between them. Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner both drained 12 points apiece.
Rashard Lewis led the Wizards with 16 points on 7 for 14 from inside the arc while Nick Young (11) was the only player from the starting lineup to end with score in double figures.
Coach Flip Saunders only played the bench players in the fourth quarter and they turned out to be better than the starters.
Jordan Crawford and Kevin Seraphin both netted 12 points.
